I have just got back in after watching the first Sidecar races, these guys are proper mentalists!

As it passes the end of my street (where these pics were taken) I may go back out in a bit and watch the electric bikes coming past on a practice lap.

    Feck that

I'd quite like to see some of the IOM TT. Looks pretty scatty, makes a change from normal motor racing.

May have to organise a trip next time round.

sidecar riders and passangers are proper bonkers, like actually, genuinely crazy.

Got some good pics from the Anglesey circuit last Monday, but these guys were particularly insane...

I'm taking a trip the the TT next year when I buy my next Motorbike and if I'm not either on tour or on some dumb course. My mate is there at the moment and says he's already sorted a place to stay for next year.

    It's gotta be done!

The races are brilliant, and the entertainment this year is a massive improvement over the shambles of last year. Last year, they didn't book any of the stunt displays, jet bikes etc, and instead booked.........a symphony orchestra! WTF?
Anyway, enough people kicked off about how piss poor it was so it's all back to normal this year.

Only downside is that you will be assraped by the steam packet for ferry tickets, only to get here and find that petrol stations, newsagents and pubs have all put their prices up in order to squeeze you for every penny. It's quite embarrasing actually.

and also the way the tourism industry works.

you know there are travel sites for hotels and things which actually used to charge more if you used the site in english? because they thought they could get more money from english people than other nations?

didn't you say in another thread how they were trying to get the TT stopped? that'd be a pretty major downfall for tourism in the area...

the pics look ace. make sure you get some up of the bikes and things!

Yeh, there's a bunch of people who want it to be banned because of the number of deaths, and the fact that it actually COSTS the Island money to put on rather than actually contributing to the economy.

Personally, I think it just needs to be run better. The government have become complacent. They dont actually put any effort in.

If the rain holds off, I may well head down to the paddock this evening, see if I cant get me some autographs and free shlt  . Last year I spent over an hour chatting to Guy Martin about MTBs and drinking tea

    it COSTS money?

thasts mad. an event that size should be able to make a small fortune if run right...

    Yeh lol.

It's the cost of maintaining 37.5miles of course, increased policing, paramedics, timing, advertising, paying for all the entertainment etc, it all adds up. Plus, a lot of the money made from TT is made by non-manx companies and syndicates, so the profit goes off-island.

If the government would just pay a little more attention, they could really clean up, whilst at the same time, providing better value for money for the tourists and encouraging people to come back at other times of year. I've long said that a dedicated government department, just for TT would pay for its self in no time at all assuming it was run properly.

politicians running things properly? whens that gonna happen?

surely the could line most of the track with advertising and sell that? selling advertising space would be an idea since its a televised event, i'm sure i've seen advertising but maybe they only bother with the main places? since I see nothing in your pics.

They do put advertising at various parts around the course, mainly where they know the cameras will be, and where they have the different grandstands.

Just went for a quick ride down to the Paddock to see if anyone was milling about.

It's all fairly quiet there at the moment, most of the riders are in the trailers prepping for the races tomorrow.

Nice, Ballaugh is a quality spot to set up and watch, even better if you're in a garden as you can run inside for a beer/food/piss whenever you want.

We're round the last part of the course, just before signpost corner. Can't quite see anything from our garden, but you can from the end of the road, which is good enough. Plus, it only took me 4mins to ride down to the grandstand to get those pictures :D

Best thing is, as I do a lot of work for PokerStars, I get tickets for the hospitality suites at the grandstand on race days, plus pit access, plus tickets to the wrap Party at the Villa Marina at the weekend.

What colour are you now IcarusGreen

Yeh, it's not a race bike (as such), but it's so sexy I thought it deserved a pic. Not cheap though, afaik, they go for around £11-12k

Mind you, the MV Agusta F4 (2 pics below that one) is even MORE expensive. But that one is SO pretty, it did make me do a little sex wee.

    Cool beans.

Am pretty damn jealous too mate.

What you currently ride? What do you wanna buy?

I've got a Triumph Speed triple... And it's awesome! The world needs more un-faired bikes 8)

Sold my GSXR600 K4 the other month because I won't get any use out of it this summer, but will be buying again about March next year ( if I'm in the UK)

    My last bike.

It's very similar to a cycle.

It has two wheels, gears and brakes.

    And an engine! :lol::lol::wink:

I've never been a fan of the fully faired super-sports inline 4's. Least not the 600's. I got annoyed at having to be constantly changing gears... :?

Saw a Ducati 848 a few weeks ago at the Cat and Fiddle... Awesome bike, and such a looker! I'd love a 1098 8) 8)

    Litre bike FTW!

I've only ever owned 600s (and a 400 for about 6months). Never felt the need for anything bigger. That said. I've not owned a road bike for over 2 years now.

600cc Supersport Race starts in about 20mins, going to pop out down to Governors Bridge to watch them coming round the hairpin there.

    Thats fair enough.

Not for me though - I wanted something torque-ier. I'm quite heavy too (90kgs - without leathers on etc)

Plus, the 600's tend to be quite small in physical size, so I'd really struggle to find something that I'm comfortable on for a few hours at a time. I really wanted a Buell, but they're so small, it's impossible for me, lol.

Hehehe, I was about the same (bit heavier now) and I'm 6ft. I quite liked the compact frames on the 600 sports bikes. But I'm wierd like that, it's the same with MTBs now. Strictly speaking, my 456 is too small for me. But I like it, nice and easy to chuck about. I was always more about cornering than outright speed.

I had a go on a Hyabusa (sp) a few years back, you'd probably like that, I HATED it. It was just MASSIVE

As for Buells, there are a few of them knocking about round here at the moment (as you'd expect). MY GOD! Possibly the best sounding bikes I've ever heard. Not half bad looking either.

Had a 1200 Firebolt from 2004-2007. Not everybody's cup of tea but I loved it.

I'm 6ft and 85Kg. The GSXR 600 is physically one of the bigger 600s and I could ride it for hours without a problem (and I have a bad knee).
