wobbly rear cassette

was cleaning bike after ride and noticed that when i turned the pedals and then affectively the bike freewheeled that the rear cassette wobbbled. have alsoremoved and replaced rear wheel which is when i noticed it. is this dangerous or a problem?can i still ride? any thoughts grateful

I think you need to take the wheel out again and check if the cassette lock ring is tight

Even when tight they can do this - some form of precession of the axle. Nothing to worry about.

What hub? what cassette? what bike?

thanks, when i remove the rear wheel the cassette comes with it and replacing rear
derailleur is difficult so possibly i ve disturbed it is it still ok to ride do you think?

You need to check if it is tight. If not then then you need to tighten it, or maybe add a spacer depending on the model.

But as above, when tight it can appear to wobble.

They can wobble on cheaper hubs too as the body doesn't line up completely accurately, and stuff inside the hub not being totally round, but it isnt an issue
