There not in the same league red kites can have upto 5 feet 7" wingspan where as buzzards only go upto 4 feet!!

Though buzzards still scare shitless

I rode at Nant y Arian last autumn and just as I got back to the car park in the afternoon they were feeding the Red Kites, the sky was full of them and it was an awsome sight. They are really acrobatic flyers too pulling all kinds of mad manoevres with each other!

beautiful creatures. Very very rare these days though, unfortunately.

Cracking picture of one in flight as well (yes, I realise you didn't take it, but it's still a great shot!)

Althought I appreciate what your saying, they seem to be doing well after being reintroduced to the area.

That's excellent news. They used to be all over Snowdonia as well as I understand, but I haven't seen any birds of prey here in years. Not sure if they were red kites, or some other variant up here though.

They're doing pretty well here in Yorkshire. Often see them out the kitchen window.

Dont know what happened there, seems only half my message was posted. Drive down the M40 through Oxfordshire and you will spot loads, they seem to be doing well there.
