sorry for another repetitive post but can someone recommend a bike for me, havent had one since i was a kid and want to get back into it.
i will be using it to do light XC with the mrs and the dog, maybe a bit of road to work/woods now and again.
cheers for any help, suggestions.

GT slightly better specced but for the price the Giant is the best full sus you will get, I suggest having a look on ebay to see if there are any bikes going near you as for £350 you could get a bike that cost £1000 a couple of years ago (specialized rockhoppers are good bets), in my opinion bikes have changed very little since 08 just got down specced and price inflated,0 -
from previous advice on here i'd avoid full suss like the plague sub-£1000. had a smudge around, but far too drunk (sunday pleasure ride) to find anything great for you. decathlon are good by all accounts, also carrera if you time halfords when they've an illusory sale on. in fairness, ebay's a damn goodnidea if you can eyeball the thing before buiying - as is the classifieds on here and t' other fori(?)

What ever you do do not buy a full suspension bike for your budget...it will be as much use as the last Labour govenment....go for a hardtail as you will get a better spec bike for your money..
A tad over budget is this http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... _Bike_2009 which will be a great starting point and a £300 saving....its got a nice spec and easly better than the Giant....as earlier the Carrera range is worth a look0 -
thanks for the great replys guys!
do you have any thoughts on any of these bikes and which one you would go for if any?
