I'm looking to change my tyres to a rounder profile as the ones I run with now have a fairly flat profile and make cornering a little sketchy!

I'm heading to the Peaks in a couple of weeks so want to change them before then as I assume it'll be a little rocky in places so the extra width will also help?

I've been advise by a few people that the Continental Virtical are a very good all rounder and I have looked at these before.

So my options are these:

Continental Virtical

Continental Explorer (which look much like the Virtical but lighter)
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=18894

Maxxis Ignitor (I used to run with these)
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=9880

I know that some tyres vary on width, do Continentals come up quite wide on the 2.3s?

Thanks in advance

Drew.

The vertical is always somewhere in my tyre combo ! Be it wet or dry, Performs well allround ! Very puncture resistant and i have ripped a sidewall on a single one ive had !

It is the vertical that i'm leaning towards, but at 730g they are quite heavy(?)...

Them be the ones. Since fitting these to my bike, confidence has smacked me in the face. Great in the wet and in the dry.

If you want them on a budget, there are two wire bead fires for £24 at merlin. I agree about the all-round solidity of them, tried some nobby nics when the last set wore thin and I'm thinking about changing back. Alternatively try some nevegals, which seem to be the other tyre that comes up in these comparisons, and are now £15 a pop from on-one (were ten, alas)

I like the Kendas... didn't think about them, even though my flat mate has them on his Marin..

Pretty light too as they are folding, the reviews are pretty mixed, but then they all have been on what i've been looking at.. only thing I haven't read which has come up on other ones is anything about them being punture prone or getting pinch flats.

Might treat myself to some Kenda's then... thanks :)

Red are the featured colours. I've got black, but think they do yellow and blue too, although its only a strip on the tyre wall. My son has the red ones, they are blinging!

I'd go with either the Kenda Nevegals or maybe a pair of Maxxis Highrollers?

I've found the fires to be pretty damn indestructible- I was running them nearly non-stop for 18 months or so (had a razor on the back for a couple in the summer). They're both still fine from a tread perspective. Been all over the south east, shrugged off a fairly violent trip to the peaks and coped with cannock chase. Finally inflicted the death-blow on one on a rock at coed y brenin, and even then it soldiered on for another day with a boot. Probably still useable now if I was careful. The other one has been racking up some more miles having been lent to a mate.

I would go for a pair of 2.35 folding Ignitors from On-One for 30 quid

Yes they are slightly on the weighty side but they are 2.3's and they roll really well while still gripping well :D

And On-One are great wth their delivery, always been next day no matter what as long as it was before about 5pm :D

Thanks for all your help and advice chaps. I've ordered some Kenda Navegals from On-One. Turns out my mate has some on his bike and said they are great.... so we'll see!

    Thanks again

    Drew.
