unles you've got a special reason not to, i'd get bib shorts rather than plain shorts, they work a lot better, especially on longer rides
never assume cycling stuff is sized the same as other clothing, depending on brand my jersey size ranges from small to large!
for sizing look on wiggle's site, they are pretty good about putting sizing info in the item descriptions
for the items you mention, these are the wiggle pages, click the description tab to see the size charts

As said, it varies massively between brands.
I am 5' 10 and a 32" waist and am normally a M / L as a starting point in cycle clothing, so I would suggest a L would be a good starting point for you.
Also, bib shorts are generally recommended over standard shorts as mentioned by sungod0 -
Im considering undershorts now with a pair of baggy shorts over the top for obvious reasons
Thanks for the tip SL.0 -

Thanks for the tip SL.
I used to ride with padded compression pants under some long denim shorts, cargo pants, chonglers whatever they're called. Not very road racing club style
I now at least ride with proper shorts or long running lycras which I find excellent, although I'm starting to come round to this idea of bib shorts.0 -
On a similar thread, I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere good to get cheap/bulk cycling gear? I have recently started cycling 5 days a week to work and, living on my own, do not build up enough dirty clothes to warrant a washing machine load every day or so - normally do a couple of loads each weekend.
I want to get 5 tops to ensure fresh attire each day but, even buying basic entry level jerseys and shorts, this will add up to £200 min...
Anyone got any tips on how to avoid this cost?0 -
jimricoli, have a look here http://www.cycle-clothing.co.uk, a number of people on here seem to use their jerseys for commuting.0

Thanks Allotropic, that's just the kind of thing II was looking for...0

No worries, have a look in their sale section, I bought two jerseys from them and even though they say they are marked both were spotless.0
