Hello all,

I picked up a Bianchi Pro Team Racer second hand a few months ago.
Best road bike I have ever had (normally just have old 80s cheap ones)

anyway its the only road bike i have ever had were the rear wheel hub clicks.

It only clicks when im either coasting or pedaling backwards.
I felt that this was perfectly normal. But why does it do it, is their any benefits?
I have tried to google/search but all i get is ways to stop the clicking as its bad?

Rear Hub is a: Campagnolo Mirage

Specs:

Also how much would this bike be worth roughly?
I paid $450AUD

Cheers

Perfectly normal for a campag wheel to click.

All it is, there are some little pawls that are spring loaded thus and used by the hub to connect to the freewheel to produce forward drive. I have a pair of fulrcums (campag's wheel company) that do exactly the same. Most mtb hubs also do this. I like the noise! Means when freewheeling through town, people can actually notice you.. well, to some extent!

As for the value, not a clue! Im not well versed with Bianchi!

  • shouldnt be anything wrong with it clicking.
in the mountainbiking world names like hope and chris king are known for their clicking rear hubs, there designed that way as apparently it means there is more points of engagement?
assuming its a constant thing when freewheeling and not occasional then its fine.
but it can get annoying the noise:P
