Fast descent cross wind

Hi all,
only on the road a few weeks with my Boardman Comp and thoroughly enjoying my time on the bike and have found this forum a good source of info.
One thing though that happened me yesterday on a long steady descent was that a cross wind got me at around the 50kmph speed and put the whole bike in a wobble, kinda scary the first time it happens but had heard of this before but was not sure if there was a way to counter act this or just slow down and try too anticipate it.

if the wind kicked off speed wobble then one way to control it is press your knee against the top tube, this will damp the vibration
braking, or holding on to the bars really tight can make things worse
i was doing some 60-70kph descents on hols the last couple of weeks, tucked right down i just kept my knee on the tube whenever i wasn't pedaling
