Been looking around at a Hardtail up to about £550, The Scott seems to have a lighter frame than most what are the main advantages of the light frame? Also been looking at Trek 4300,4500, Marin Bolinas Ridge and The GT Avalanche 2.0 Disk. A lot of makers dont specify the weight anyone know how these makes comapre to the Scott in terms of weight and general advice really...thanks

Which Scott are you comparing to? Aspect 40/45?
Googled and could only find the following weights...
Trek 4300 - 28.4lbs.
The GT Avalanche 2.0 - 31.1 lbs.Adam.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
Current ride - Yeti ASR 5a X00 -
scott tend to have fairly nice frames. But it needs to fit, i'd try to see if you can find them all locally to try for fit.0

Been looking at the Aspect 45 which is 29.85 lbs.....the Aspect 55 is heavier at 31.83 so it appears the Trek is lighter anyway...thanks for that[/quote]0 -
My mate rides a 08' Scott HT. It blows away in the wind.. Lightest HT I've ever picked up
the above sentance may be of little/no use
EDIT: for that money I'd be looking a GT Avalanche or Carrera Fury. Halfords sometimes have good deals on both.Cube Hanzz Pro FRSquarepants wrote:It's not that I'm over over biked, my bike is under personed...0 -

Nothing beats the Fury really at this price, for weight or performance.0
