Cassette BB swap

I'm in the process of replacing my double chainset with a compact. My existing BB is a cassette type. Is the external type of BB required for the Tiagra chainset I hope to use interchangable with a cassette BB? The bike is Trek 1.2 (circa 2008).
Thanks, Alan

if you are asking whether BB cups will fit your frame then yes (although you may need/decide to get the BB shell faced)

If you're asking whther a HT2 chainset will fit any other BB than a HT2 BB (i.e. cups) then no.

Thanks for the reply - I was asking the former. Just wanted to know if BB cups could fit on a frame initially fitted with a cassette BB.
    Cheers.

do a search on 'facing' - there are some arguments that the edges of the frame's BB shell need to be 'faced' to ensure they are flat and parallel, so that the cups are not at slightly different angles, which increases wear.

Depends on your frame though, to some extent.
