Morning All

I'm going to be upgrading my Slayer soon and am intereseted in going for one of the above frames.

The frame will be built up with my current set up (Float 140, xt/xtr gears, XT/719 wheels, Oro k24 brakes) and my riding comprises of local trails, all day rides and trips to Wales.

What advice, opinions or suggestions do people have?
Wow great ship man. Looks like a fish, flies like a fish, steers like a cow.

I like both, have read all the reviews, never ridden either but was considering them both.

Don't fancy the Carbon on the 575, seeing as your coming to the Land of My Fathers!
    Carbo + Carbon, = repairs.

Single pivot on the Heckler sounds great, til you hit breaking-bummmmmmpppppppssss.
But. Mtb Action says, it's the "One Bike" they would have year round. Yanks...Go figure!

Have you considered the Morewood Zula? Ok, only 100 rear travel, but Excellent reviews recently, and they use their DH techno info on the frame, apparently.
On my list of "possibles" this year.
With you being in flatish Kent - yes, I know there are Hills, I've ridden/raced there -100 would be great for your local stuff, and single pivot great for your nice clay mud/terrain!

Giant Trance gets great reports, as does the racier Anthem.

How much time do you spend going up hill? If it's plenty, I'd go for the 575.

The carbon rear issue is over hyped in my opinion.

Nothing wrong with Carbon at all.

cant find a 575 in my price range though have an offer of a 2008 Heckler in really good condition for a very good price and have to let them know by tomorrow.

Both bikes would be lighter then my Slayer, out of the two the 575 would be lightest, and would also have much improved rear suspension, currently an 05 Float RL shock.

Just to complicate matters I have also been offered a 2008 Marin Mount Vision Quad XC. Perhaps not in the same league as the previously mentioned frames and has shorter rear travel. On the Marin site it lists it having 120mm up front so I wonder how a 140mm fork would affect it?

Agony of choice and time is running out lol

i have a 575 and a mate has a heckler that we swap sometimes and the heckler altho being a very good bike just cant live with the 575 on the ups or the downs.

The heckler does have a smoothr rear end tho and does turn a bit better on Steep tech climbs as the 575 feels more laid back so steering gets a bit light and washy on very steep tech climbs but i find the 575a lot more pedal efficient so in turn faster.

Both are very good bikes and dont think you will be disapointed with either.
