I decided to shorten my rear shifter cable as it was dinging on the frame when the suspension compressed. (These sort of little things really annoy me). Anyway as i removed the cable typically the end frayed so new cable it was. As i was inserting the new cable through the shifter i noticed that there was something blocking the way stopping the cable head going completely into the shifter thus allowing the cable to pull. After much digging about inside the shifter i removed what seems to be a small half disc shape piece of magnet, i assume that this is part of the shifter but what does it do should i be worried this has come out? it seems to be working fine now.
