How much movement does the clamp on a typical integrated seatpost clamp allow? (up and down the seat post, not saddle forwards/backwards)
sorry if this is a stupid question, or if there are like millions of seat clamps with different amounts of movement. I'm only wondering as i'm considering buying a Scuro RS frame and i'm trying to work out how dangerous cutting down the seat post is...
Any info would be helpful

I remember asking this question when I was in their shop. I think it's in the region of 10mm. But remember this means that if you have to use this10mm to gain extra height, the clamp and therefore the saddle and all of your weight will no longer be resting on top of the seatpost as such but will be held there by the pinchbolts as the clamp will now be sitting proud of the seatpost 'stop'.
So it's best if you get the saddle height right first time- and keep with the same saddle.0 -
my TT frame has 25mmconstantly reavalueating the situation and altering the perceived parameters accordingly0

thanks for the replies
did both of you just cut it long and then take it down bit by bit until it was right?0 -
No.You need to know your saddle height from your previous bike and cut once with a fine toothed junior hacksaw with a decent blade.0
