If the unit weighs 1900g surely the weight gain would make it noticable compared to a bike at 7.8kg or whatever it is?
Wouldnt it make a noise too? I bet the sound of a milk van in the peleton might not get missed.
I reckon this has to be rumour turned fact.0 -

you could detect this by comparing speed/watts from a powermeter. easy.
1.9kg and 100 watts = 52.6 w/kg!
an tour contender at 6 w/kg could get to 7.5 w/kg using such a device.
fuk yeah!0 -

No, I don't think it would be a wind up motor, it's more likely to be battery powered.

I think the less than subtle choice of picture in the cyclingnews article, with a guy waving a swiss flag was a little OTT!0 -
It's a bit difficult to spot, but I think that someone in this race may have a motor hidden somewhere on their bike...

I think it's a dig at Contador in relation to when Cancellara claimed he was drafting behind motorbikes at Annecy last year, in other words "Contador beat you on a motorbike, care to comment Fabian?"The most painful climb in Northern Ireland http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs200.snc1/6776_124247198694_548863694_2335754_8016178_n.jpg0 -
Maybe all those Electronic Dura Ace batteries you see on frames are actually being used to power the motor in the bike instead! 8)0
