BB 30 B/Brackets/ Cannondale
Hi,
Have a mates bike with original Cannondale carbon cranks fitted...all very nice but the threads/insert has gone on chainwheel side.
Looking at replacements cannondales are extortionate and ellusive Sram Force compact appear the best replacement, this is a 2007 Synapse.
Are there any other options eg a insert to go back to standard shimano stuff?
As opposed bb30 units?
Appears to be slow catching on?

You can get an adapter to convert BB30 to british or italian threadDolan Preffisio

'da goose' I've got an unused FSA BB30 adapter (68mm English thread).
If you want it, it's yours, just PM me.
Long story but I had a frame replaced and they sent this with it. I did use one of these in the previous frame - you need to use Loctite 609 to fix it in place - though folk tell me it is removable if you need to, though I never tried that.
I bit the bullet (and the bank manager) and went for a BB30 chainset (SRAM Red) which I can recommend, but jeez they're pricey.

Your link doesn't work as there's a stray bracket included. However, I removed this bracket and see that Chainreaction only have the English thread version. I'd be interested to know if you can get an Italian thread version for a similar price.rhnb wrote:I bit the bullet (and the bank manager) and went for a BB30 chainset (SRAM Red) which I can recommend, but jeez they're pricey.
I was under the impression that SRAM BB30 chainsets work out cheaper than conventional chainsets. Certainly at Merlin this is the case, as you can get a BB30 chainset for £224.95.

Well poverty is all realtive isn't it ;-)
Prices seem to vary wildly for the 2010 SRAM Red BB30 compact chainset.
Fudges have it for a fairly good price too (£239)...

Not sure if there is an Italian threaded version of that adapter. You'd think so wouldnt you, but on FSA's web site they don't even say what thread it is - just 68mm or 73mm width.

HI,
Many thanks for all the info....as its not my machine the owner has settled on another bb30 chainset and is likely to chase FSA on a warranty issues with the sl compact that gave up the ghost the other day...shame as a real lightweight bit of kit !
As rhnb correctly states you can get an adaptor however once its in its in and I dont think removal is much of an option.
Strange why bb30 hasn`t really caught on as really easy to service strip down etc.
Thanks anyway hopefully he will be back riding by weekend on Sram Force.
Cheers
