sram and deore?

Is there much of a differance?, i dunno, its just names to me, im looking to buy my first bike in a long time, just not sure what the differances are if any with these.

    well Sram is a company. and Deore is a product range made by Shimano

    Ah thanks Nick, I thought it was all shimano and sram was the cheapest option below deore, lx, xt, xtr. Is sram ok?,

    SRAM do a full range just like Shimano, with X0 being their XTR equivalent, X9 the XT, and so on. Very nice kit, it's just a matter of preference which brand you go for really.

  • You can also run a mix of sorts. I have X9 rear mech, Deore front mech and X7 shifters with shimano chain, cassette and chain rings.
