Cracked Frame Grumble - Now it's not a grumble!

It appears my 2007 Specialized Tarmac Expert has some cracks around the BB. Upon speaking to Specialized U.K. they are saying that this has been a problem in the past and to send the bike in to be replaced. I have to take it into local dealer to get stripped down and couriered off.
Now this is where my grumble begins - When I asked would it be a like for like frame replacement they said no it'll be a Tarmac Comp frame instead as they only have them and S-Works frames available. He did say that the new comp is an upgrade on the old expert but surely I should be entitled to the same frame right?
Granted there isn't much difference but I've bought a Tarmac Expert, it's failed so should be replaced with a new Tarmac Expert?!

Their only obligation is to give you a suitable replacement - you can be grateful that you have a Specialized - there are some other makes reknown for wriggling out of warranty claims. The guys at Specialized are very reasonable IME. You could also try negotiating by paying for an upgrade?Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I agree they have been good and I'm counting myself lucky for having a good warranty but what is a 'suitable' replacement? It doesn't say that on the warranty policy I've looked at.There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...

Enlighten me. What's the difference between a 2007 Expert and a 2010 Comp?? Materials, geometry, weight?? Is it not posible that in 3 years they have made advances in composite manufacture that mean you are getting an upgrade?
You can't expect them to keep a shedload of 2007 frames just in case of warranty claims.0 -
Just had a squint at the spesh website where they usefully provide archive documents.
2007 Expert = 6R carbon
2010 Comp = 8R carbon
2010 Expert = 10R carbon
The numbers are getting bigger, so I'm assuming that's a good thing?0 -
yea i thought that, so in hindsight cant be a bad thing. maybe i'm being picky?!There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...
