I am having trouble breaking a SRam PC 1050 chain...this is the first time it has been broken....has a powerlink (J) date not faulty M N link...the chain has been cleaned is near spotless....but when I squeeze the links....it does not want to slide inward to release.

Various Y tube videos suggest that when you squeese the link you get a distinctive click before slidding.....no such click when I try it......any suggestions what I am doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated

powerlinks are harder to release the first few times

i've never heard any click before sliding them open

squeeze the sides hard, then as you slide it to the open position that's when there is a slight click

if you drop he chain off the chainring it'll be easier to slide the link open

The 10 speed powerlink is not reusable. I just split mine with a chain tool.
    More problems but still living....

oops missed that it was the 10-speed chain

for 10-speed it's not actually a "powerlink" (which is the name of the sram reusable links), it's a "powerlock" which, as amaferanga says, isn't reusable
