Are cranks 8 & 9 speed specific?

Morning all.
I have an FSA V-Drive crank fitted to my bike & am looking to change from 8 speed to 9 speed. Will my current crank be OK? I can't see anything regarding 8 or 9spd on any of the online shops, so I guess they fit both?
Any pointers would be great.

should be fine."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

It might be fine, but if the teeth are worn from the 8sp, then the 9sp chain being narrower will probably suck. So then you either need to reprofile the teeth or replace the rings.
I just did mine and ended up changing crank too, I had really bad chain suck in the smallest ring and then closer inspection showed the others were pretty worn too.
because the cost of an XT crank vs new chain rings meant it was a no brainer. Three chain rings at 40-50 quid vs a budget crank at 40 quid or a new decent crank at 100.
But having done two rides now with a 34/22 its well worth it.
I would certainly budget for changing the small chain ring0 -
