got a fox rp23 boost valve shock on my bike it 5 months old (2010 model)

problem is when i sit on my bike to set sag for instance im loosing about 5mm of travel from the shock with putting verry little pressure on it. the shock is on my orange 5, my sag pressure is approx 220 psi im 14 stone and this gives me about 30% sag.

would an air sleeve service sort this out do you think or is it one for mojo, also shock is a little noisy when compressed, i dont know if this is just me being paranoid tho.

cheers for any advise.

I'd probably take it to the place where you bought it and ask them to take a look. They can assess if it's a warranty job.

I've known very sensitive shocks with little stiction sag under the weight of the bike lol.

What pro-pedal setting are you running (1,2 or 3) and do you have the pro-pedal switch open or closed?

    sorry what is the problem?

you apply some force and the bit sags. Normal.

you are running 30% sag which is a bit much so add more air.

Pro pedal is set at 3 but is in off position. My problem is nick that I can push the saddle with my hand and the shock sags about 5mm then you feel the resistance from the pressure in the shock. I don't think this is normal, you should be able to feel the resistance from the very beginning of the stroke not 5mm into it?

    This is a bit strange.
I would take it to bits and give it a service although it shouldn't need it being only 5 months old.. Maybe the internals are compromised and its stuck down?
I'm sure you have, but have you totally deflated it and cycled it back and forth?
I'm no expert but even on propedal 1 it should offer some resistance initially.
At least it's in warranty

Are you certain its the piston sagging and not your bushes? But I think this might be normal with pro-pedal off. I will check mine - though I only run around 170psi in mine.

so is the pro pedal off or in position 3?

pushing on the saddle will not make the pro pedal work.

and yes just pressing on the saddle can cause the shock to compress. it al depends on the suspension "rate" and the shock "rate"

of cause this all depends on the bearings/bushing not been worn out.

like i said above set your sag to 20-25 and then see.

I just checked my RP23 although mine is a 2009 model, it has the same characteristics and also makes an initial squishing noise with the pro-pedal off during the first 5mm of travel. So if yours is broken so is mine.

mine is set to position 2, inflated to 170psi and sagged about 5mm when pushing on the seat with pro-pedal off. Obviously with propedal on it was solid.

They are not mutually exclusive. The RP23 has a dial to set Pro-pedal and switch to set it on or off. So it could be in position 3 and off or on.
