Planet-X CNC brakeset

Can anyone help?

I have a set of Planet-X CNC Ti brakes, they look fab light etc etc etc but came with no instructions, no instructions on the website and really just don't feel right.

Even with a tight centre bolt the whole brake moves considerably, then trying to centre calipers whilst keeping the pads 1-2 mm from the rims causes binding on one side or the other, grrr!

I can widen the gap to the rim which helps but means I have to pull much harder to achieve the same stopping power. There's also a small allen screw on the centre bolt that I have no idea what it does.

Any help greatly appreciated.

That small allen bolt is used to centre the calipers...
Undo it, centre the calipers then tighten it again.

sure I read a post where the thread for that small grub screw wasn't fully tapped so basically didn't do squat!?

    It did mine, too, NapD.

But, in this post the OP found that the hole for that grub screw was not threaded all the way through, rendring it useless.
He tapped the hole again, and it worked!

Thanks, I thought there was something wrong, no matter how I turned the screw it made no difference.

Still they do look very bling which is all that matters

how did you retap the thread hole? did you use a dap and die? what size? the smallest i can find is an M3 - is that small enough?

I think mine are the same - tightening the allen bolts gives me the feeling i'm bottoming out on the thread and it is not pinching the boly, and centreing the calipers is very hit and miss.

I have these brakes, on mine there is a small grub screw on the side (as opposed to the one in the centre of the brake). It's this side one that I've used to centre the brakes. The first set I had, the grub screw wouldn't turn and it eventually crumbled at the head - reading above it looks likely that my set were also untapped.
