Hi dudes!
I just got my used bike by mail yesterday, unfortunatelly the seller didn't say anything about the headset bearing which misses some balls.
according to Trek website the headset is: "FSA NO.57E, E2, ACB sealed bearings"
and I'm missing the lower bearing (30 balls I think).
I couldn't find anything online, and the trek dealer didn't call me back yet.
does anyone know a way I can order only the plastic part and its balls?

that is bad packaging. the fork should not have been left that lose. the balls will have fallen out in transit.

TBH your options are remove another ball and measure it. and go and buy more from a ball bearing shop.

    or try your LBS

presuming the fork is also a taper steerer the bearing "should" be 073-2RS for the lower bearing in a Orbit 1.5ZS No 57 (FSA do not list a 57E so the above info may be wrong).

    good luck.

Jesus. I would be livid if my bike turned up like that!

I thought Trek don't allow bikes over a certain value to be delivered? They wouldn't deliver my Trek I had to go and pick it up.

Thank you guys for your answers!
As a matter of fact I bought this 2 month old baby thru ebay, and I must agree that the bike shop who did the packing is lame!
Also the seller doesn't corresponding me back and I'm going to complain thru PayPal (which won't help for sure)
    nicklouse,
I'm sure that this is the right headset model since I copied it from trek website (someone told me it's a OEM model of bearing)
Will let you know what is going on with my poor bike.

I bought my 2008 ex8 second hand from a bike shop in wales they delivered it, was about 6months old and cost me just under a grand with the delivery

But recently the headset is a bit rough so decided to swap it out for a new one

This my friend was the worst job i have ever tackled, due to the hour glass shape of the head tube. So if your going donw this path get the bike shop do swap it for you.

I would complain to ebay and force the seller to pay for this job. Maybe a new tapered headset type thingy.

Otherwise I love the ex8 its a cracking bike, And served me well on the few days I spent up at glentress.

    Good luck
If you fall off try again !
