i have a sora group set on my bike which seemed to be set up OK when i had a new rear mech fitted 2 weeks ago about 250 miles ago, now it seems to be out of sorts a bit why does this happen so quickly ???? Also the shift up into the big front ring seems to need me to press the lever in twice as does shifting down to the small ring ?????? :?

The rear mech cable has probably stretched a little - should just need a quarter to half a turn on the cable adjuster to get it running smoothly again. All cables stretch a little from new.

The front cable sounds as if it needs slight adjustment - it should change up to the big ring on the first press - the two presses are there to 'trim' the mech.

Check the Park Tools website to see how to adjust. http://www.parktool.com/repair/byregion.asp?catid=53

The rear mech is just settling in. As Skydog says just needs a tweak on the cable to reset the indexing.
For the front mech you are probably just getting a little lazy with the lever. You must use the full travel to go up or down. Anything less and you are only trimming the mech about 2mm.
  • Thank you will get my big hammer out and see if it will play ball, cheers lads.
