i was using firefox until tonight when i tried and found i like chrome.
however,
can anyone recommend a good advert blocker, i tried adblocker but i was warned in a pop up that it has access to my browsing details or summat, is this a bad thing? does it mean it knows my internet banking details and whatnot*?
*please excuse the paranoia

well, it is installed and working, what dos it mean when it claims to have access to my private browsing data, is it just able to see what i am looking at (mostly ebay, BR and porn to be fair)0 -
Bottom line if you really don't trust it then disable it when you do the banking. I use a clean separate browser when i do my banking, it's never used for anything else and the cache / history / tif is cleared after every use. it's anal and equally paranoiac.0

It's worth noting, that chrome will report "anonumous" (ahem) browsing history, in order to try and provide targetted advertising. It's Google's business model.0

Not entirely sure, their usage of your personal information is, ironically, secret.
But, they make their money from selling ads, and use their various technologies to determine what kinds of ads suit which folk. Just beware of that when using any google based software.0
