hi guys,

looking for some advice regarding the size of my current post.

i have a 2008 trek 9.8 and the post that came with it is 330mm long and model is the bontrager x-lite carbon aac.

does anyone have an idea of the diameter, its either a 30.9 or 31.6.

any help gratefully received.

cheers :D

  • it should say on the seatpost itself, somewhere down below the minimum mark

I was in the same situtation as you I even measured my original seatpost, it is very hard to measure the diff between 30.9 and 31.6 thats 7mm but if you measure and come out at what you think is 31.2 or 31.5 thats not so easy.

In the end I got a hold of a vernier guage and my original measurement was wrong, I needed a 30.9 and I would have been knackered if I got the bigger size.

Get a vernier guage and measure accuratly is what Im trying to say.

If it helps 2 Treks I owned used 31.6 seatposts but check for yourself.
  • All my Treks (from 2006-2008) have got 31.6 (not sure if that helps either!)

or a cheap one  even the one offs tend to be inscribe in the inside and the carbons marked.

by 9.8 i guess you are on about the Elite model?

also as that Post only comes in 2 sizes I would not have thought it would be to hard to work out if it was 27.2 or 31.6mm

    this is the carbon/ally post?

Worked it out last night it has to be the 31.6 model as bonty dont do a 30.9 and it wouldn't fit in my 27.2 CX frame - so job done and new post ordered!

cheers for all your help guys! :D
