The two in question:

Anyone had experience with them, are they good? Which is the better make, if any?

Thanks
Craig.

As in put the star nut in, stick the 6mm bolt down then and whack it in? :P

I'm assuming the tools I've posted above help stop scratching/damage that may be caused by using crude tools such as a bolt? Or would there not be much difference?

    Thanks

Hmm, actually I'll hold off on the star nut installer tool for now. Looks straight forward enough with a screwdriver down the middle and some careful tapping.

If you want a really simple, foolproof approach, get a long M6 bolt or a bit of threaded bar, and stick it through the SFN from underneath, with the biggest washer you can find that'll fit down the steerer attached at the other end, and the bolt/bar threaded out the other side a little. Drop it into the steerer- the bolt will stop it from going in squint, which is really the only way SFN fitting can go wrong. Then whack it in with a fine grade hammer.

Could just use a Hope Head Doctor...or those ones that clamp top and bottom - probably better.
