Hi people,

looking to build a TT bike and need an idea for the sort of chainset and cassette I should be looking at.

I'm guessing there is no point at having a compact and should look at 53/39 standard (currently ride compact on my road bike)

Along with the 53/19 should I use a 12/25 cassette?

I guess that TT's are 'fairly' flat and I should just get used to the about combo?

BTW, it'll be for a 9 speed campag setup.

Cheers,

Dru.

If you are looking to do "fairly flat" TTs then either 39/53 or 42/53 will be fine as a chainset. You'll probably find the small ring only gets used pre- and post- race.

Cassette would typically be 12-21 as a starting point.

I ride a compact on my road bike, and a 53/39 on my TT bike, you shouldn't have any issues swapping between the 2.

I have 12/25 on my road wheels, and 11/23 on my TT wheels.

Perfect, that is just the answer I was looking for :)
