Dura-ace 10 speed rear mech problem

Hi,
My rear shifting has been bit iffy lately which I think may be due to an impact on rear mech. Whilst awaiting delivery for a new one (ordered one off ebay, but got a 9spd Dora grr), I had a play with the adjustment screwed and completely c*cked it up!
The shifter is stuck completely inwards and the whole thing won't budge. Anybody know how to 'reset' shifter and rear mech? It's a Dura-ace 7800 10 spd
Thanks,
Paul

It's possible that you may have bent your rear mech HANGER since you're talking IMPACT. This requires a special tool to fix. As for why you're stuck completely inwards, I have no real clue. Sounds like you need a bit of help from a knowledgeable friend or bike shop.0 -

This isn't to do with impact. It's about me messing with the adjustment screws to try and improve gear changes but messing it up - leaving the STI shifter stuck inwards with no movement!0 -
Try to push in the mech towards the wheel and undo the screw that you've tightend, if you are unable to do this undo the nut holding the cable to the mech, which should mean that the shifter at least will now work.
This hopefully has released any forces on the mech, so once again try to adjust out the screw that you've tightend.0 -
it may have jammed the shifter if the cable tension has gone slack. try pulling on the cable while operating the lever. it should return to normal. loosen the cable clamp bolt on the rear mech and set the high and low limit screws so the jockey wheel on the rear mech is inline with the teeth on the sprockets at each extreme of movement. then shift the lever to the highest gear position and clamp the cable bolt down with no slack in the cable.then its just a case of fine tuning the cable adjuster on the mech to keep the chain inline with the gear it is on.0
