Can they be converted to run 26"rear or are they stuck at 24"?

hmm just read about a conversion from BETD but I can't see it :(

I seem to remember the conversion is possible. Try giving them a call.

there was a kit from Betd.

be aware they need a Zero dish rear wheel. ( not a normal dished wheel).

The 2003 Big Hits continue with the Asymmetric Rear Triangle that allows for a dish less rear wheel and ample tire clearance.

Is that what that means? ^
    Whats the difference?
  • hmm having read sheldon i'm non the wiser...

but i think i get it, something to do with keeping the hub in the centre of the bike? :)

if you want to use a of the shelf wheel forget it.

you will need a custom build the rim is central in the flanges not closer to the drive side.

oh and the old big shit is not worth building up.

Ben dont you will be selling the frame as soon as it is built.

they are short and dont like 200mm forks. (unless they have a low AC height).

  • Short as in wheelbase short?

Would be ok with some 170/180mm forks which i guessed after looking at the original specs..

    they are just wrong.

there are very few bikes that i have been happy to see disappear...

Christ the giant faith was 100% better than the big shit and that had issues.

    they had their place.

cheap as chips and went down a hill.

But if i was wanting to build a cheap DH play bike i would not look at the big hit.

you could pick up a full bike for a few hundred ready to "ride"

  • hmmm..... well I might still consider it.
Basically my bro has a Kona Stinky, but because I only have the P7 I won't be going freeride/DH with him... and If I move to cardiff I want something I can throw down cwmcarn!

Plus he doesn't tend to ride much anyways so I don't want to spend much.

go for a stinky... the 07 in blue was the last great cheap FR/DH play bike that was accesible to anyone....

you can pick them up dead cheap now..... and they are reall good too, i know more that a few very good riders who started on an 07 stinky....

perfect for what you want... the big hit was hatefull!
    I like bikes and stuff

I know someone selling a SX trail frame if thats any good to you ?
I have now decided to split the SX trail to fund a new purchase!

The frame is a large, and was professionally re-powdercoated about 6 months ago. At the same time I replaced all the bearings.

It is covered in Slik Graphics and is in very good / mint condition.

The shock was PUSH'ed in september last year, and has absoloutly changed the way it rides.

See pictures of the frame below. If you are after any more specific images please let me know and I will take them.

Please note: Ti Spring is not included - however a steel one is.
