9 Speed Crankset with 8 speed chain

I know I can run my new 9 speed crankset on my 8 speed set up.
However I have bought a new chain to fit at the same time and it's an 8 speed chain.
Should have have bought a 9 speed chain?
I know the chain will work but I'm thinking with the 8 speed being wider will it move sideways on the chainrings and wear them quicker than a narrower 9 speed chain :?

Or am I worrying to much :roll:
