8 Speed Shifters, What F&R mechs?

My road bike needs a Spring service, including new front & rear mechs. The shifters are 8 speed Sora.

What mechs can I use, retaining the current 8 speed chain & casette? I'll be replacing a Tiagra rear, & Sora front mech, but would be curious what (cost effective) upgrades are available.

    Hi,

    I'd stick with the 8 speed Sora front mech as it's as good as most in terms of shifting ability. Slighht weight to them but perhaps not worth the cost.
    Your rear mech can be replaced using something nicer like a Ultegra SL or similar (Dura Ace might be overkill..lol) as the rear mechs will cover 8/9/10 speed drivetrains.

    You might get a decent price for both mechs but it's always the rear mech that'll save you the most weight of the two and perhaps give you the biggest gain in terms of value/performance ratio.
