Single Speed with QR instead of solid axle

Hi,
Sheldon says you can use QR instead of Solid Axle (fixed nuts) on a rear wheel of a single speed but has anybody and is it safe enough assuming you tighten it up pretty good?

Its a Genesis IO frame and Deore LX rear hub (freehub will have single speed sprocket added).
