Happened enough times now to start getting bloody anoying
Following a route .... going off course .... suddenly miles to destination is cocked up then route too
One time a B road was pretty unrideable so proceeded to next junction (about 1000 yds) then rejoined route .... This was to complicated for it to re-route and it looped me going back home again
Is this normal? :?

I think its an update thats caused the issue, or maybe the way we are generating routes.
reason being when I first bought mine in august 2008 (dam its been that long) I did some test rides trying to get it to reroute and seeing how it would operate.
It worked very well, and would route you back onto course pretty well.
However when leading an organised ride recently, we did a unplanned stop into a park area around a lake for a coffie. the 705 rerouted back to the end, missing out the rest of the ride. I didn't realise till I was leading a group of 30 up a climb I'm sure we shouldnt of been going up, so next right turn and all was okay.
Definetly NOT the behavior I had come to expect.
Not sure if my original tests mind you had been done through mapsource, rather than bike route toaster, and if that has anything to do with it. Doubt it but you never know....0 -
Does sound like auto-routing. I had the same problem but not had it since I turned it off.0

+1 turn off auto-routing or turn on prompted re-routing to give you the choice.0

Prompted re-routing seemed good to me at first, but this one time (at band camp) I was going along a straight road - no junctions in miles and it tells me I've went off route. :?0

This happens to me if I use a downloaded route, some of the routes seem to have a more 'as the crow flies' approach between track points which means the actual road and where the GPS puts you is off route whilst you go around a curvier bit.0 -
I know I should be very graitful I even have one ...But by god mine is pi@sing me off at the moment, last time out the bloody thing was bleeping every min telling me the point numbers or something as well as the usual off course aggghhhh :evil:0
