Generally just need a bit of wiggling around but I have some of these as well in case it really is stuck

Also aren't the SRAM 10sp links powerlocks and not designed to be re-used, presumably they don't come apart easily? I use KMC myself and they're easy to get off (9sp SRAM ones on my MTBs are sometimes a pain).

As above if you have the SRAM 10speed link, it is a one time only use... doesn't come apart like the KMC missing link

On my SRAM chain, first thing I did was break the SRAM power lock link and replaced with KMC missing link so I could remove the chain for cleaning.

It's dead easy with a pair of these:

    KMC chain link pliers - £ 8.95

Takes literally 10 secs to place them around the 2 rollers and squeeze.

As many thimes as you want. I tend to discard it when I change the chain, but by then will have taken the chain off 10s or 20s of times to clean it.

Just searched and found they do 9 sp ones so bought a pack of 2 one to use and one in the saddlebag in case the chain splits on the road.

Was your chain nice and clean when you tried to split it?
A good squirt of WD40 (similar) may have helped, by flushing around the plates.

My KMC link was a total b*stard to split the first time, bought pliers to do the job. But, since I clean it a lot more often, I can now do it by hand every week...

Do you guys with the link sometimes hear it make a slight click noise as it goes around the rear cassette?

Just noticed this and wondered if its anything to worry about or if its normal.

If my memory serves me the KMC link has slightly more curve on one side of the plates which should be facing toward the sprockets so check if it's mounted correctly.
