I heard from someone that there is a dedicated lightweight freehub body for the SRAM Red powerdome cassette.

My LBS hasn't heard of this. They said just what I assumed that SRAM/Shimano are the same fitment and the SRAM Red powerdome cassette sits on a standard Shimano freehub body.

Can anyone please clarify?
Cheers

It does exist, e.g. on some Easton wheels. not that common though.

    I see.
That actually relates to the query I had as it was regarding Easton wheels.
Is it not available to purchase on it's own then or is it designed specifically for Easton wheels?

    Cheers

I think you can buy them seperately to fit the Easton wheels. There's someone selling some Eastons with a SRAM RED body in the road classifieds - might be worth pm'ing him and seeing what he has to say.

  • Yeah, I just got a free wheel set from the team's wheel sponsor and the freehub measures 2 mm shorter than the freehub on a training set of Mavic Aksium. You can mount a SRAM 1090 cassette but not an Ultegra. The Ultegra-- you won't be able to get the last two cogs on.
