Fed up of my Conti MK's, alternatives......???

So i have had enough of my Conti's because they simply do not have the grip or cushioning/size i need from some tyres, they also get more punctures than any other tyre iv ever had! The thing is, i love how fast they roll, so i'm looking for a similar rolling speed tyre just bigger and grippier.
I have got a budget of around £50 for 2 tyres, so my main possibilitys at them moment are Maxxis High Roller 2.35 60a MaxxPro, Maxxis Ardent 2.25 60a folding, Kenda Nevegal DTC 2.35!
Any other suggestions or advice/opinions??
Thanks!

WHich version of the MK do you have?0

you could go for 2.4 rubber queens front and back if you are looking for extra volume and grip - they are massive but slightly heavy at just over 800g each. If you shop around you can get 2 for £60 delivered.0

Supersonic, they are the Mountain King 2.2's which came with my 2010 Crush!
I have loked at the rubber queens but they are just soo bloody expensive!
Thanks!0 -
Probably non Protection version. The Black chilli with the kevlar walls is the better one.
They cost though! Go for kevlar beads at the very least. Usually have better compounds too.0 -
Same as you with the MK's, I ditched them for Maxxis Ignitors. For me they roll well and grip really well too.
I got them cheap as chips from UK Bike store.Niner Air 9 Rigid

I changed to Spesh Sauserwinds (from 2.2 MKs) - much much better.0

2.35 Ignitor front, 2.1 Highroller rear. Great combo for meAdam.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

You mentioned 2.35 Nevegals, bad choice for you, good tyres but they're slower. If you're considering nevegals you probably want the 2.1s- they're bigger than your Mountain King 2.2s believe it or not, MK sizing is a joke. A Stick-e front, DTC rear, works an absolute charm. To be fair they're slower rolling than MKs but because they have so much more grip you'll still be faster, and you'll have to pedal less to recover lost speed
Lots of other good options. TBH most modern tyres are better than the OEM-spec mountain kings. You need to spend a packet on black chili mountain kings to make them compete with everyone else's cheap tyres Had them, hated them, sold them.Uncompromising extremist0 -

Minion SP DHF 60a on the front and High Roller SP 60a on the rear.
Really grippy and quite fast rolling0 -
nobby nic front racing ralph rear great summer combo. switch to a nic at the rear for winter, or just run nics F&R a bit more rolling resistance tho.0
