I'd just like to let everyone know,
that flat and low,
is the way to go.
Seriously, they are freaking awesome. I wasn't too sure at 1st, but they offer so much stability. And the lower bar gives a racier stance meaning i'm not so sat up.
Down at 130mm I'm lower and in a much better position to keep the front down on climbs.
at 140mm its sort of a trade off between climbing and decending.. great all round position.
at 150mm they're awesome going downhill

Very nice.. you must be be well chuffed with your build chap, top job 8)0
-
Hahahaha, love the last pic
Mind you, bet the weight diff between this ans the old surge is night and day!
Look forward to seeing it in action0 -
You have no idea
Took it out for a quick ride and it feels so much lighter to throw about! the extra chainring + less weight is gonna be great for my riding0 -
If I had to get a new hardtail it would be like this. Good job.
I know it's only my opinion, but I think the bike looks much better without the crud catcher. Sorry. Cleaner inner thighs though!0 -
Hehe.. I just don't like the crudcatcher bolts :P
But tbh, I kinda like it.... it makes it look like its ready to tackle anything
Which reminds me... I need to buy some KCNC bottle cage bolts!0 -
Needs a big ring...0

Sweet ride!
At least SOMEONE around here got around to building their P7!0 -
Fantastic, it's finished........at last
I was going to ask, what do you thing of the Minions??
Cheers0 -
Awesome build mate bet your well chuffed
Loving last pic :P has anyone said you bare a slight resemblance to Paddy McGuinness? lol0 -

Lol... i've never been likened to Paddy before.... I have been told I look like Steve-O a few times though0 -

The super tacky is a bit draggy, but offers superb grip!0 -
Bet you'll be dodging all the puddles on yer first ride out!0
-
LOL! I hadd't thought about that!
I'm definately heli taping tonight... couldn't be bothered last night!0 -
Very nice Benji, lovely build, how are those forks?
Another vote for a big ring here though, especially if you have some road work in mind...Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -
Road work?! Are you on crack?
The forks are nice, need to set them up properly though0 -

Perhaps by road work, he meant like digging them up to make trails0 -

Admittedly, resources are hard to come by, but the average stretch of road has many more obstacles and imperfections Fort William DH, and with a bit of excavation you can get some decent lines dialled in.
Road camber can make for some nice switchbacks, speed bumps can be built up with a better lip, railing the curbs into the next huck off an embankment... road trails rule.
By and large, hire yourself a private surveyor and you can build what you like. Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -

i see your enjoying having a bike that you can pick up without a crane!
seriously, it looks great- how are the xt brakes?0 -
xt brakes are great
Taken a while to get close to bedded in though, still need to work on them a bit more lol!
They have a similar feel to the saints, but aren't as grabby and feel a bit more smoothly modulated
The biggest positive on the bike is the Sram x9 shifters and X0 rear mech! after never having had used Sram gearing before.... it really is rather nice.
The shifter position is much more natural!0 -

Good stuff - told you the XT brakes are ace...
and glad you like the SRAM - feel more intuitive don't they?0 -
I dunno what it is yet Just feel crisp, no clunking... just a gear change!
Argghh stop it... I wanna go ride it now0 -
Oh, that's nice
Yup SRAM shifters are the dogs.I hate it when people say David Beckham's stupid...its not like anyone ever says: 'Stephen Hawking - he's s**t at football.' Paul Calf0 -
That looks great, must be all the better having built it and set it up yourself.0

Twas good... floats pretty well..
Fork is superb, but i'm just not used to a light front end/low gears.
The rear feel is great too!
I run 2.35" tyres but they're more like a 2.2... not really wide tbh!0
