Hi,

I have been mountain biking for years, but I now need to invest in a road bike for commuting and a London to Paris ride later this year.

Ideally I am looking at getting a durable racing bike with good wheels / group set etc that is quick, yet relatively comfortable to ride on our bumpy roads.

I have a max budget of £750 and I am limited to buying through Evans Cycles via the Cycle to work scheme.

Any advice on the best bike I can get for this money would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick.

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/can ... query=caad or if your budget is slightly flexible then the tiagra version for £799 would be my choice.

Very subjective as ideally you need to go and see what you like and what feels right. However link above is a good start and I would also recommend the following

Triple Tiagra will help you get up those French hills on your London to Paris (I am doing route 4 with AMR in July) and the Trek is a lovey bike.

Pity you can't get into Hafords and stretch your budget to £1k as the Boardman team gives you a decent carbon frame bike with quality SRAM gears and is a great starter bike.

Go and try some bikes but Trek, Cannondale and Specialized all produce good bikes around your budget.
