OK, I'll happly admit that the last summer I was regually riding, lyca was all you would wear if you were serious. I'm happy with baggy shorts, but what to wear on top? The thing is, lycra tops work well in the sunshine, so what to replace it with? Somthing more tecnical than a cotton t as well....

baggy shorts with padded inners and a basic t shirt for me :D i've got a few base layer style t shirts that are wicking but i don't like the look of them as a standard t shirt, those stay as a base layer under something else when it's a bit cooler. if i was out all day then i probably would go for something wicking, but as my rides are only usually 2 hours max a t shirt is fine for me

What's wrong with just wearing a lycra top..?

    This ^

I usually wear a short sleave base layer with one of my many short sleve/long sleve jerseys on top during the summer. If your worried about what you look like to non cylcists, then im sure most of them think we look stupid and OTT all 'geared up' when we go past anyway! :)
