Replacing my Crankset...
I have this Bianchi: http://www.bianchi.it/en/products2008/Road_Y8B47.aspx, and want to replace the Crankset with an Ultegra one like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=39017
I've never done this before, so can anyone give me some pointers? Do I need to buy a new bottom bracket for example? Or will I get everything I need with the Crankset (apart from the obligatory 3 new tools, obviously...

You will almost certainly need a new BB as the Mega-exo one has slightly a smaller internal diameter bearing on the non drive side.
Changing over is straight forward. You just need the outboard BB removal tool, the bearing adjuster tool and some allen keys.

Great, thanks for the info - would this do the job? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=906 How can I find out what size I need? And do I need to buy BB Cups as well?"And the Lord said unto Cain, 'where is Abel thy brother?' And he said, 'I know not: I dropped him on the climb up to the motorway bridge'."

Tiagra or 105 would also fit.
Bianchi would probably need an Italian BB but you should check. Italian fits a 70mm wide BB shell which is RH thread both sides. English fits a 68mm shell and has LH threads on the drive side.0 -
English thread on my 2008 via nirone.0

I think all recent Bianchis have English threaded BBs. See which way the markings on the current BB cups point.0

Finally got round to buying the parts for this - managed to pick up an SL chainset for £85 (using the "extra20" code!): http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shimano/ultegra-6601-sl-hollowtech-ii-chainset-double-oe--ec021588.
I've been advised to have my bottom bracket refaced before installing, and given that the tools are £500+, was thinking that the best option would be to take it along to the LBS - any thoughts?"And the Lord said unto Cain, 'where is Abel thy brother?' And he said, 'I know not: I dropped him on the climb up to the motorway bridge'."

The tools are £500 plus?
I've had two BB shells faced at my LBS and it's definitely a worthwhile exercise for fitting external cups.Ben

Thanks - I was going on this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/SearchResults.aspx?Search=facing"And the Lord said unto Cain, 'where is Abel thy brother?' And he said, 'I know not: I dropped him on the climb up to the motorway bridge'."

I forgot just how pricey that gear is! I knew there was a reason I didn't have a go at DIYing it.Ben
