Ends for Gear Cable Outers

What kind of ends would fit XT outer cables for butting into frame stops and X7 shifters? Do I need different ends to butt into the shifters from the frame stops?
Would these do the job?

If so, what are the 2 different parts for?
I was just goign to get these, but they seem very pricey and anyway they are out of stock:

Anyone got any alternatives to these options? Cheers!

I've just given a load of Ferrules and stuff to DMC for his P7 build. Might be worth asking him to send on any leftovers. if he has any.
Did the outers not come with all this stuff in the kit?0 -
yes they will work.
the outer is to keep dirt out in high contamination areas.
XT kits come with ends already."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thanks CNWT - no kit, I bought shifters, mechs and outers separately - no extra bits of any kind! Where did you get the ferrules from? Can't seem to find what I am looking for anywhere, maybe because they always come with the kit?You don't need eyes to see, you need vision0

Thanks, Nick - think you misunderstood my question. I know what the outers are for, I was wondering what the two different parts of the tongue and shield pack were for? It looks like a short grooved one and a longer smooth one, or are they both part of the same unit? I didn't get an XT kit - bought the cables by the meterYou don't need eyes to see, you need vision0

The ferrules I had came with my Alligator outer kit I bought. They provided LOADS of ferrules but I used continuous length of outer from shifter to mech so I only needed a few.
I'll have another look tonight and see if I've got any more kicking about anywhere.0 -

IIRC they will be too fat for the shimano outer."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Cheers, CWNT - with all the frame stops etc on the bike I need 9! Which was why I was a bit pi$$ed off to see it was £1.49 for 2 Shimano XT ones from CRC!You don't need eyes to see, you need vision0

Just noted your reply to CWNT Nick - did you see my follow-up question to your original response about what the 2 parts were for? Would be grateful if you could let me know so I know how many packs to order if I need to go down this route.
Or maybe I should just get these from Halfords?

Anybody used the Halfords ferrules :

or got any other recommendationds to use for XT cable outers? You don't need eyes to see, you need vision0 -
I could be wrong but I think the longer smooth part fits the other side of the frame mount to stop carp getting in.

what about

all cut to length lubed and has the ends. Or have you got some odd sided cable runs?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thanks, Dawg - I thought that mihgt be the case. So those 2 parts don't come apart, they just slot into the frame mounts? Might go for a mix of these for the crappier areas and just use the Halfords ones everywhere else.
Thanks, Nick, yes, got some oddsided cable runs! You don't need eyes to see, you need vision0
