how do you adjust a stem on a mtb ?
Can you use a stem upside down ( to lower the handle bars)?
They just don't look like they use to

if you have them and room on your steerer tube (see photo below for an extreme example of as spacer stack - not my bike i hasten to add) you can move spacers above or below your stem to raise / lower it -



with many stems you can flip them upside down to lower the bars but especially with longer stems this might slightly affect other bits of your ride position and / or handling i guess

other than that youre stuck with fitting a different stem that gives you the position you want
