What's the technical name for the shaft between the cranks?

What's the technical name for the shaft between the cranks? The bit with the bearings in.

Bottom Bracket? Or do you mean the spindle?

Strictly speaking it's an axle , sorry it's usually referred to as the bottom bracket.

Erm, its a spindle on HTII cranks isn't it

you mean the shaft that is attatched to the drive side arm on extrnal bearing cranks? i would call it the spindle, but not sure about tech name...

The levery thing on the right with the chainrings attached to it used to be the crank.
The levery thing on the left used to be the arm.
