What's withe these CEN bike standards then?
I read now in my fav mag that my fav frame, Orange P7, is now up to 6lbs for the 2010 model to meet these CEN standards. So, does that mean that my 2005 model at 5.25lbs is unsafe. Give me a break. Guess they will be making them out of steel bar soon rather than tube.

The standards can be found here: (p46)

I think that bike companies registered in the EU must now adhere to the frame testing.
It does seem OTT for some applications.0 -
As far as I'm aware it's not mandatory testing if the main tubes are 853 standard.0

Last issue (11, I think) of Wideopen Mag had an article on it. It's a free PDF based mag.0

aye, page 76. Interesting read.0

The P7 is just lardy tbh, somehow On One manage to make a steel frame that's rated for a longer fork and passes CEN without being such a bloater, and charge 2/3s as much for it.Uncompromising extremist0

And interestingly it was that way for many years.0

Oh, I'm losing it, I was looking at the frameset price not the frame! That's another one in the eye for the poor P7 then, costs less than 1/3 as much.Uncompromising extremist0
