At the start of the year, my best mate and I got together and set ourselves the challenge of taking part in four rounds of the 2010 Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon series, to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Over the course of the year we will cover approximately 200 kilometres, tackling a mix of steep climbs, technical singletrack, fire roads, mud, rocks, roots and ruts, through some of the most challenging and spectacular countryside in England, Scotland and Wales. Rain, wind or shine - whatever the weather throws at us.

We've not taken part in this number of MTB Marathons before, so this is going to be a big challenge for us. We're not athletes; we're just two mates who like to get out on our bikes occasionally, for fun. This year we've decided to do it to help make a difference by raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.

Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.

At any given time, over 20,000 children in the UK are living with life-threatening conditions. In 2010, around 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted.

Please help us support the Make-A-Wish Foundation by visiting our Just Giving page - http://www.justgiving.com/inside7 - and making a donation. We're aiming to raise £1000 for this amazing charity. You don't have to give a lot. Whatever you can donate, even a small amount, will be hugely appreciated. It all adds up.

Thank you.
