Third Garmin was probably Danny Pate - he was in the lead group with Gilbert for most of the escape before being dropped/dropping back to help.

9km to go, 54 seconds lead. All to play for, even if the bunch is looking very slim.

I thought it didn't look like him, but the commentators keep saying Millar, so it must be

I don't recognise him in his new glasses...

Shouldn't those Transitions lenses be clear in these sorts of conditions? :)

Can any of the front 4 TT?

The peloton all came in over 2 minutes yesterday, and they're 50 secs up now... none of them are that good.

We'll see. Bbox's Seb Turgot's been sitting on the back for a long time and he's got a strong sprint.

Gilbert glued to Turgot's wheel. When it's this cold and wet anything can happen.

edit: Grivko is Ukrainian TT champ? so has ability, can Millar pull back more than 12 secs on him?

Grivko is very talented. Millar seems to be more on form but this should be a close battle. With more bad weather and stages to come, anything can happen.

Millar only took 5 seconds out of Grivko in the Paris Nice prologue on a 8km lumpy course.

EDIT: Millar does seem to be at peak fitness now though - see the CI tt

Both of them did a lot of work today... Grivko will know Millar's splits, which has to give him an advantage.

Has Millar won a stage race previously?

Usually a good indicator for de Ronde this.

Millar for my PTP pick then.

The BBox stable seems to be in fine form so maybe the smart money will be on a Millar-Voeckler one-two? :? :D

Its a windy one again tomorrow but probably not quite as windy as today, especially later on. The first stage tomorrow is sort of done in a square, going south, then east, then north, then west. Its a westerly wind so the main crosswinds will be at first and again after half way. I suppose one advantage of the windy weather so far is that its not as if there are loads of people to watch who are 20 or 30 seconds down. If anyone in, say, positions 5-10 does get away then there is a bit of a buffer there and if the chase wasnt great and they gain a minute then it doesnt matter. Not a stage where you want to be caught at the back though in case crosswinds cause a sudden split etc.

Yeah he won the Tour of Denmark and the Circuit de la Sarthe, both in 2001.

Tomorrow's road stage is 112 km - plenty enough to cause the bunch to split up if the weather is the same.
