New Brake Pads

Just wondering if thebreak pads take a wee bit to break in(pardon the pun) they just seem a bit scratchy if thats the right word. Its a new bike and i am new to cycling so just wondering if this is the case? Cheers

    The brake pads may take a few miles to bed in.
    Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!
