Noobie tyre question

I'm currently running my MTB with the stock tyres that came with it but I'm looking to swap over to some Schwalbe Marathons for road training.
I think the current tyres are 2.2 or 2.1 but the Marathon's that I've got my eye on are 1.75 (should I go for thinner?).
Will I need to change the tubes as well and will there be any issues with my current wheels?

Thinner is lighter, and can cope with higher pressures, but less comfortable.
Most tubes are rated 1.75 plus - if you go much under 1.75 you may find it is a squeeze.0 -
Thanks Supersonic, swift as ever! 8)
1.75 it is then.Claud Bulter Cape Wrath D27 (2009)

You think I'd be better off with 1.5 and new tubes?
Still no issues with the rims?Claud Bulter Cape Wrath D27 (2009)

Only if your rims are wider than say 21mm (internal) will you have issues with anything lower than 1.5.
Up to you - lower weight and higher pressures for slightly better rolling resistance versus comfort.0 -
I'm doing a 52 mile on-road trip with work in June and I think my main concern is finishing.

Just gone to fit my 1.5 Schwalbe Marathons and discovered that I have 2.15 tubes.
Will this be okay providing I don't go mad on the pressure?Claud Bulter Cape Wrath D27 (2009)
