Juddering Tekro Auriga comp brakes...?

I seem to have a judder from the front brake... Tektro Auriga Comp.

Bike seems to stop ok. Is this a case of new pads or can the existing ones be fettled? Or could it be the rotors?

TBH I've not checked anything further just yet... it's my son's bike and I was out on a quick blast 1st thing this morning, so didn't have time to check anything over.

Be grateful on what bits I should be checking and what to look out for.

Ta.

new bike? new brakes? new pads?

    any noises?

    anything lose?

when does it happen can you relate it to rotor shape?

some things to look at later.

    Thanks Nick

That's given me some things to have a further look at. No noises I can detect other than the faint judder noise when the brake is applied.

Bike is approx a year old.... I got it 2nd hand but it obviously hadn't been used much by the previous owner. It's been out about 15 times in the last 3 months... most in a day has been 15 miles around Gisburn.

Although I have crashed it the once

when the bike is still, and you are off the bike, hold the front brake, and push the bike back and forth. does the sound sound like it's coming from the headset? if yes, then tighten up the top cap bolt, (the one on top of the steerer, on top of the stem if you don't know what i mean) and it should quieten down. otherwise the rotor or brake caliper bolts may need tighening.
    hope that helped

    Thanks.

NOTE: wouldn't it be good to have a thanks button that we can click to show our appreciation?

Nick....? Has this ever been raised with site admin?

    hi,
I have these brakes and had a similar problem.....the juddering was accompanied by a 'gobbling' noise.

Turned out to be contaminated brake pads. (see my thread titled *my front disk sounds like a gobbling turkey!*)

    new pads, job done.
