..this drafting lark. I usually ride on my own and never in a group so was unsure how much benefit there was to riding in a pack. Commuting to work this morning I got behind a big container lorry that was doing about 40kph along a flat bit of road. It punched such a bit hole in the air I could keep up with it with no effort at all for almost 2km - awesome!

The only downside was that when it stopped at the traffic lights I nearly ended up embeded in the back of it. :)

Followed a digger once. Up hill. It was knocking on at about 24 mph. Drafted it for over a mile. So easy.

Yup its great but make sure you hang to the side and back, got to watch for up-coming changes in traffic, watch the brakes and be on your own brakes, preferably dropped down for maximum stopping.

I used to draft a bus or two on a stretch of my commute if there was one at the lights with me but not always the case but there was a bus stop about 200yds from the lights but a nice workout though.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

If you want to draft safely, go to a velodrome and do some derny training :D

used to do the buses on my old commute and use to hit 40 for a 2 mile stretch or a good day. was against traffic os a 3 lane road so usually a clear run and I used to use the engin tone as a guide to what the buss was doing.

great fun as long as you accept the fact its dangerous
